Hermann meets Bernd Kussmaul - at the German premiere of the new Porsche 911 restored and redesigned DLS Study by Singer on 19 March 2019 - on the premises of this international design and technology service provider from Weinstadt. Kussmaul had been given the order to manufacture all metal interiors and decorations. The parts were cut primarily from aluminium and then polished by hand under a microscope for up to ten hours followed by anodic treatment in black or natural colour. To this were added magnesium, leather, wood and carbon components.
This absolute measure of perfection fascinated Hermann. Especially the refinement of materials and their fascinating surface effects.
That's why Hermann invites Kussmaul to visit him – at his showroom to give him a very personal impression of his artistic creations and his life.
And Kussmaul does not hold back on friendly criticism regarding refinement and the art of absolute surface design. So the day with Bernd Kussmaul also brings a lot of positive and new knowledge, which makes Hermann more than just curious. Both would consider meeting again.
